Level 3 fashion and design diploma garments.
This garment was planned from December of 2016 and completed in June 2017, the process to make my final piece took 6 months to complete with; contextual research, fashion illustrations, garment constructions and sewing techniques etc.
Besides, the outfit was basically formed on the adinkra symbol named "Nyansapo." which indicates "The wisdom knot" in Akan Twi a language that founds from the Asante region of Ghana.
However, I desired to show the black and white flowers that are inspired by the King Protea flowers of South Africa outlined by the technique of recycling of the leather and fabric.
Finally, a glue gun was used to fashion the appearance of the wisdom knot via the leather and fabric flowers onto a simple black mesh bodice and I also lengthened the back of the garment by adding a mini train.
The second fabulous garment is what I did during my time at Lewisham Southwark college studying a Level 3 fashion and textiles diploma, which was based on travelling around the world: A brief set by the high-end clothing company Ted Baker.
Furthermore, I decided to represent my motherland which is Ghana by researching gold pebbles including other objects that make my nation stand out and other contextual references.
Also, I had come second from the competition of the brief plus this particular piece was chosen to showcase for the end of year fashion show.
In addition, I examined the idea of using yellow thread and wadding to resemble the form of the gold pebbles when handsewn collectively onto the simple white mesh bodice to help visualise as the piece as 3D and make the garment stand out when walking down the runway or capturing on a picture as well.
